In the building of the Military Academy of Communications named after. S. M. Budyonny there was an explosion, as a result of which at least 5 people were injured. 

On Friday, May 17, at the Military Academy of Communications named after. S. M. Budyonny, on Tikhoretsky Prospekt in Russian St. Petersburg, a powerful explosion occurred. The university has a large number of ambulances and fire engines. 

Initially, Russian resources reported an alleged drone strike on a military academy. However, apparently, the information was not confirmed. Telegram channel 112 later wrote that “an ammunition exploded in the basement of the building.” He very quickly deleted this information, clarifying that “the cause of the incident is being established.” 

According to preliminary data, as a result of the mysterious emergency at the academy, 5 people were injured, 2 of whom were in serious condition. The Russian authorities have not yet responded to the incident. 

According to recent data, 7 people were injured as a result of the explosion, two of whom are in intensive care. The governor of St. Petersburg, Alexander Beglov, said that the incident “is not of a terrorist nature.”  The Leningrad Military District confirmed rumors about an abnormal explosion of ammunition “during work.” According to them, we are talking about a 76 mm caliber projectile from the Second World War.
